Dublin!

Dublin reminded me a little of Prague, since it was built on a river and there were a lot of different bridges and styles of architecture. But Ireland felt a whole lot less foreign than the Czech Republic.

My favorite part was the pub culture, with delicious food, cold Guinness and live music every night.

This is the view from the top of the Guinness storehouse.

March Flowers

The day before I left for Ireland it finally felt like spring. These flowers are from my neighborhood. It now feels like it's going to snow again. But I'll be on a beach in Italy a week from today, hopefully soaking up the Mediterranean sun.

Trying to channel the warmth from these photos.

English Sunrise

Last week Loïs and I stayed up all night talking and bundled up to watch the sunrise. The world was so alive, taking its first breaths of the day. The birds put on a show for us. She told me the magpie rhyme:

One for sorrow
Two for joy
Three for a girl
Four for a boy
Five for silver
Six for gold
Seven for a secret never to be told

We saw seven magpies. There were dogs being walked around the lake, and I told Loïs that every time I saw a Labrador, I took it as a sign of good luck. I look forward to having my dog and waking up early to take it on walks in the city. The light is amazing and one gets to see the world from a different perspective.

Spring is Here!

I love these old, gnarled trees. England has a lot of them.
